Privacy policy

MasVeriyaa (www.masveriyaa.com and the MasVeriyaa Host Android app) is a marketplace where anglers book fishing trips directly with boat owners in the Maldives. This page explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number and password (stored encrypted). Boat owners also give a business name.
• Boat owner verification: boat owners give their National ID card number, home island, address, years of experience and a short profile, and upload photos of their ID card (front and back), a photo of themselves holding it, and their boat driving licence. For each boat: registration number and certificate, and photos of the boat, its safety equipment and first aid kit. These photos are stored privately and are seen only by the MasVeriyaa team and the owner who uploaded them.
• Boat details: engines, range, equipment on board, location of the boat and photos — shown publicly on trip pages.
• Feedback and complaints: the messages you send us, which we may share with the boat owner involved to resolve the matter.
• Package payments: for boat owners, the package, amount and date of cash payments we record. We take no card or bank details.
• Google login: if you choose to log in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture and a Google account ID. We never see or store your Google password, and we don't post anything on your behalf.
• Bookings and orders: the trips, dates, number of anglers, extras and shop items you book, and the amounts involved.
• Reviews and photos: reviews you write, and trip photos your skipper uploads for you. You choose which of your photos may be shown publicly.
• Basic visit statistics: pages viewed, device type, browser and the site you came from. We don't store your IP address — only a one-way code that changes every day, so we can count visits without identifying you.

How we use it

• To create and run your account and let you log in.
• To pass your booking to the boat owner, and the boat owner's details to you, so the trip can happen.
• To show reviews and approved photos on trip pages.
• To check that boat owners and boats are genuine and safe (verification), and to show “Verified” badges.
• To handle feedback and complaints fairly between guests and boat owners.
• To keep the site secure and understand which pages and trips people look for.

We don't sell your information and we don't use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

• Boat owners see the name, contact details and booking details of anglers who book with them.
• Google, only if you choose to log in with Google.
• Service providers that make the site work: Cloudflare (secure delivery of the site), and map, font and script libraries loaded from OpenStreetMap, Google Fonts and cdnjs.
• Authorities, only when Maldivian law requires it.

The Android app

The MasVeriyaa Host app shows this same website inside the app, so everything on this page applies to it. The app uses your camera only when you choose to take a verification or trip photo. It does not track your location, show ads or collect data in the background. It stores a copy of the site’s styles and an offline page on your phone so it opens quickly.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in and to remember your cart. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep your account until you ask us to delete it. Verification photos are kept only while the boat owner’s account exists. Booking records may be kept longer where needed for accounting or to settle a dispute, with your name and contact details removed once they're no longer needed.

Your choices

• See and update your details by logging in, or ask us for a copy of what we hold.
• Ask us to correct or delete your information — see how to delete your data.
• Remove MasVeriyaa from your Google account settings at any time.
